About…

I'm Veronica G. Downing, a journalist and radio host of The Honey Vibes Weekend Radio Show, on Jazzy 89.9 HD2. Originally from Philly but now based in Edenton, NC. I bring different age groups together on my show, connecting with both young and old. Working hard is a part of who I am. I have a strong passion for music and journalism.

I earned an Associates from College of the Albemarle in 2019 and a Bachelors in History with honors from Elizabeth City State University in 2022. I’m also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. In my senior year, I won the Melvin L. Murphy Award for best capstone research paper.

In the span of seven years, I have gone from working as a freelance correspondent at my small town newspaper, to a PR assistant, student research intern, editor in chief of my college paper, and now a radio personality. My strength may be in print, but I am open to exploring all the tricks of the trade.

The Honey Vibes Weekend Radio Show is my opportunity to continue listening to the music I grew up loving, and connect with listeners across the country as we learn what makes the music special. Soon, I hope to launch a podcast with my friend Professor Douglass A. Jackson, who is also a musician. Between his experience and my curiosity, I believe we can find some common ground that will change the ways that we appreciate and preserve music history.
